She was a remarkable landscape designer and gardener. Most photos of her are very serious, even dour, so it was lovely to find one of her laughing.

Hurrah!
I've downloaded a picture from Flickr by selecting 'add image' in a New Post, at last. I've had some sort of mental block about playing with the buttons in New Post, but hopefully that is all behind me now.........well, in fact I haven't quite made it after all. I entered the url, the message was that it had downloaded, but nothing is there. So, back to the drawing board for me, and another attempt after a dose of chocolate and coffee.

Autumn in the Jardins de Luxembourg
When I stayed in Paris many years ago, it was autumn and the Jardins de Luxembourg were directly accross the road. There was a gentle melancholy to the empty chairs, sometimes covered in fallen leaves.

I can spend a lot more time browsing Flickr than I can afford; am particularly struck by a series of photos by an American teenager called Jon Bradley titled 'Rural abandon'. They are very striking, and being black and white for the most part, are dramatic and moody. You can find them at http://www.flickr.com/photos/jon_bradley/sets/72157594572743056/
I haven't had any luck in directley uploading an image, so need to explore if there is a block on some of the images.

Not Flickr, but photo from my files of the pension I stayed at in Paris more than thirty years ago. It looks just the same, and my son took the photo for me when he visited Paris last year. The first thing my friend and I did when we arrived was to go round the corner to buy pain au chocolat (chocolate croissant), and then went accross the road to the Luxembourg Gardens to sit and eat in the autumn sunshine.
